Seachd denied Oscar nomination
Producer Christopher Young is pissed! BAFTA has decided not to put forward his Gaelic film Seachd: The Inaccessible Pinnacle for an Oscar.
Seachd is the story of Angus, a young man who heads off on a quest to find the truth about his grandfather’s incredible and fearful stories.
Young was hoping Seachd would be entered in the foreign language category, but despite being considered three times BAFTA stuck by their decision.
Young called the decision “explicitly anti-Gaelic.” Adding, “it is a decision that’s been made against films that are not in English.”
In a statement from BAFTA they said they would only put forward films they considered outstanding.
